  • After completing their investigation, police arrested Michael Tirado, 46, of Kutztown, for simple assault and harassment/physical contact following an incident that occurred at a residence in the 00 block of E Main St.

Reading Public Library to present women’s safety program

Reading Public Library will host a free program on “Women’s Safety and Consent” from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Main Library, 100 S. 5th Street.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. SafeBerks will present the program in conjunction with this month-long observance.

Pennsylvania resident and Dominican national charged following search warrant execution

Members of the New York State Police’s Community Narcotics Enforcement Team recently arrested two individuals following the execution of a search warrant at 404 Square St., Utica.

During a search of the Square Street residence, state police members located more than four ounces of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and more than $2,500 in U.S. currency.

Two people were located within the residence and identified as 30-year-old Robel E. Ventura-Veras, a Pennsylvania resident; and 34-year-old Wascar Javier, a citizen of the Dominican Republic.

They were both charged with one count each of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A-2 felony; and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony.

Both were arraigned at the Oneida County Centralized arraignment center and remanded to the Oneida County Jail without bail.
