KUTZTOWN – The sixth-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team has had a lot to celebrate over the last two-plus weeks, and that joy will continue as the program will honor its four seniors on senior day tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 3, in the regular-season finale against Mercyhurst at 11 a.m. at Andre Reed Stadium.

The Golden Bears (13-4 overall, 6-3 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) boast a four-game win streak, including defeating then top-ranked West Chester 2-0 last week. They also were victorious on Saturday, Oct. 20, the day the program celebrated 50 seasons of KU field hockey and had many past players and coaches in attendance.

Now Saturday, three days after clinching a postseason berth in the PSAC Tournament, the 2018 class of McKenna Conselyea, Laura Durdon, Lauren Latchford and Rita Muro will have center stage.

Over the past four seasons, this group has been a part of four straight seasons posting .500 or better

records, totaling 46 victories thus far, the most wins by a class since 2011. This past Wednesday, Oct. 31, KU clinched a postseason berth, and this quartet were also members of the 2015 team that qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament and hosted KU’s first-ever home playoff game.

She will graduate next December with a degree in elementary education.

Durdon is a four-year member of the Golden Bears and has appeared in 33 games, making one start during her four-year career.

Durdon is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a member of the Dean’s List.

She will graduate in May with a degree in Chemistry and a double minor in forensic science and mathematics.

Latchford is a four-year member of the Golden Bears. She has played in 47 career games, starting in 17 throughout her four years.

Latchford has a total of five defensive saves in her career.

In the classroom, Latchford is a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a two-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member, a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner and a three-time member of the Dean’s List.

She will graduate in May with a degree in sports management and minors in business and athletic administration.

Muro is a four-year member of the Golden Bears and has played in 31 career games so far. She has one goal and one assist in her career, with her assist coming this season.

In the classroom, Muro is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a three-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad, a two-time D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner and five-time Dean’s List honoree.

Muro will graduate in May with a degree in Political Science and a double minor in history and public administration.

She is a native of Barcelona, Spain.

Kutztown will conclude its regular season portion of its schedule Saturday against the Lakers, and will then have a week off to prepare for its PSAC playoff game.
