Humane Society of Berks County announces Free Pets for Vets

Fee-free adoption event at the Humane Society of Berks County in support and honor of Veteran’s Day

As a way to show our support and gratitude for all of our veterans, we are thrilled to announce we will be offering Free Pets for Vets – Fee Free Adoption Event at The Humane Society of Berks County, Saturday, November 10 through 12, 2018.

Our service men and women provide us with an unparalleled service, and to show our appreciation, we want to provide veterans and their families with the ability to welcome a new furry friend into their homes without needing to pay the standard adoption fee.

Throughout the event, vets and their families can view, select, and meet-and-greet with any animals; dogs, cats, and critters they’d like, that are available for adoption.

    Waived Adoption Fees Include:

    • Humane Pennsylvania’s Thirty Day Adoption Health Supplement
    • Spaying or Neutering (prior to adoption)
    • Vaccinations (including current rabies vaccination) and de-worming medication
    • Flea Treatment
    • Microchipping and chip registration

Adopters also receive a free bag of Science Diet Pet Food. Science Diet partners with Humane Pennsylvania to provide great nutrition to all cats in our shelters.

    Adoption Hours are Monday 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Veterans interested in adopting a pet during our Free Pets for Vets event will be asked to present their military ID as part of the adoption application process and verification on their service.

The Humane Society of Berks County is located at 1801 N. 11th Street in Reading.

To view the available animals for adoption, visit humanepa.org/adoption or meet the animals
at the shelter, in-person, during scheduled operating hours. For more information about the
free adoption event, please call 610-921-2348 or email: adoptreading@humanepa.org.
