Hemerly Hired as Kutztown University’s Assistant Sports Information Director

KUTZTOWN – Kutztown University has named C.J. Hemerlyits first full-time assistant sports information director. Hemerly begins his new role today, August 6, after serving in the university’s one-year assistant position last year.

Hemerly will help coordinate all aspects of the university’s sports information office and the promotion of its 21 NCAA varsity programs.

During the 2017-18 season at KU, Hemerly was the primary contact for the nationally-ranked women’s soccer team, which reached new program heights, earning the No. 1 ranking in Division II. He was also charged with men’s basketball, softball, tennis, golf and track & field.

Hemerly has been a sports writer for the Lehigh Valley Press newspaper in Allentown, covering local high school sports. This season will be his eighth working with Lehigh Valley high school athletic teams.

He served as a graduate assistant at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member East Stroudsburg University during the 2012-13 school year. There he assisted in the promotion of the Warriors’ 20 varsity programs, including inputting stats and taking photos at home contests, while receiving his master’s degree in sports management.

Before arriving at ESU, Hemerly completed an internship in the athletic communications office at Lehigh University. While there, he wrote press releases and uploaded content onto the website www.lehighsports.com.

Hemerly is a 2011 graduate of DeSales University, earning his bachelor’s degree in sports management; he resides in Allentown.
