KUTZTOWN | The Kutztown University men’s basketball team returns to Keystone Arena this weekend after three straight games on the road that spanned over a two-week period.

The Golden Bears (4-1 overall, 1-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) have back-to-back games against PSAC West foes in Mercyhurst University on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Gannon University the following day on Sunday, Dec. 3. Both games are set for 3 p.m.

KU is coming off a one-point, 67-66 victory at Jefferson University on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Four Kutztown players scored in double figures. Redshirt-junior Anthony Lee tallied a team-high 16

points, senior Rafiq Marshall and sophomore Max Wagner each contributed 15 points, and senior Ethan Ridgeway added 13 for the Golden Bears, who needed every last one of them in holding off the Rams (4-5) in their home gym.

Ridgeway (22.0 ppg), Lee (20.4) and Cuevas (18.5) all average in double-figures in scoring, with Lee recording double-digit scoring games all five games this season. Ridgeway is fourth in the PSAC in scoring and second in assists per game (7.0).

Kutztown leads the PSAC in field goal percentage (52.0) and 3-point percentage (42.3) and is second in scoring offense (92.6 ppg), margin of victory (+15.0) and steals (11.4 spg).

Mercyhurst (4-1, 2-0) enters off an 81-51 win over Roberts Wesleyan College in its last game on Nov. 27. The Lakers have won both of their conference games by double-digits against Cheyney (77-47) and Millersville (69-55). The only loss came at the hands of Lake Erie College (79-62).

Mercyhurst is led in scoring by senior guard Lorenzo Collier at 15.4 ppg. Patrick Smith has grabbed a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game.

Gannon (4-3, 1-1) lost its last game to Bowie State, 63-59, in overtime on Nov. 29. The Golden Knights split their opening PSAC regular-season contests, losing to West Chester, 52-44, and then defeating Cheyney 80-48.

Like Kutztown, Gannon has three players scoring in double-figures. The offense is led by Zay Jackson (16.1 ppg), Evan Phoenix (14.9) and Jair Green (11.7). Phoenix is bringing down 9.7 rebounds per game, third in the PSAC.

Kutztown did not face either team during the regular season last year, but defeated the Golden Knights, 91-85, in overtime in the PSAC semifinals on March 4. KU beat Mercyhurst in its last meeting, back on March 13, 2016, in the Second Round of the NCAA Atlantic Regional.

The Maroon and Gold will look to keep pace with undefeated East Stroudsburg and West Chester, both of whom are 2-0 in the conference and one game ahead of KU.
