LANCASTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University women’s swimming team capped a successful weekend of competition at the F&M Invitational with a sixth-place finish in the team standings and placing nine competitors into the finals session.
Claire Frank posted her third top-ten event finish of the weekend, claiming the tenth position in the 200-IM with a time of 2:13.56. The Emmaus-prep added the 200-IM to the 400-IM and 100-back as the trio of events which Frank finished in the top-ten at F&M.
A quartet of Golden Bears qualified for the 500-free finals, of which Lindsay Brenneman led the way with a time of 5:15.47 followed by Kara Jones (5:26.68), Gab Louden (5:27.52) and Katerina Parowski (5:30.34).
Madi Bleiler and Jocelyn Seidt finished within one second of one another in the 200-back, touching the wall with times of 2:15.35 and 2:16.37, respectively.
In the 100-free, Katerina Parowski and Alison McLaughlin competed in the C-Final with Parowski, taking the top spot, finishing 17th-overall with a time of 54.65.
Kutztown had one swimmer in each of the B and C-Finals in the 100-breast with Bridget Perdoch and
Suzanne Selman representing the Maroon and Gold. This senior duo swam times of 1:10.74 and 1:11.95, respectively, with both having qualified for the PSAC postseason in this event.
The final individual event, the 200-fly, featured another senior, Kara Jones, who finished 13th-overall with a time of 2:14.35 in the B-Final. Linnea Pierson also appeared in the final, but in the C-Final, clocking in with a time of 2:20.77 for a 22nd-place finish.
To conclude the weekend, Parowski, McLaughlin, Brenneman and Frank made up the top 400-free relay team for Kutztown. This foursome notched a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:38.72.
As a team, KU finished sixth overall with 521 team points, one spot ahead of PSAC-foe Millersville.
The Golden Bears will have a weekend off to recover from the grueling three-day meet at F&M before taking on PSAC-rival Lock Haven at Keystone Pool on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m.
LANCASTER, Pa. – The Kutztown University women’s swimming team will send 11 swimmers, securing nine new PSAC-qualifiers in the process, to the finals session tonight on the culminating day of the F&M Invitational, hosted by Franklin and Marshall.
Claire Frank continues to cement her place in the KU record book, opening the third day of competition with a season-best 2:13.75 in the 200-IM, an existing PSAC-qualifying mark and sixth all-time for the Maroon and Gold. Frank is the lone Golden Bear to advance to tonight’s finals in this event, finishing with the ninth-best prelim time as the top qualifier for the B-Final.
The 500-free featured a slew of Kutztown swimmers headed to the finals with Lindsay Brenneman, Kara Jones, Gab Louden and Katerina Parowski all advancing to tonight’s session. Each recorded PSAC-marks in the process, meaning KU will have at least four postseason qualifiers in this event.
Madi Bleiler and Jocelyn Seidt each posted PSAC-qualifying times in the 200-back, finishing within one second of each other with times of 2:14.82 and 2:15.62, respectively. Bleiler and Seidt will make up KU’s duo in this evening’s B-Final.
Another tandem of swimmers qualified, this time for the C-Final, in the 100-free as Katerina Parowski and Alison McLaughlin secured spots for PSAC Championships with qualifying marks in addition to their advancement to the final session tonight.
The 100-breast saw Bridget Perdoch and Suzanne Selman both moving on to tonight’s session, advancing the B and C-Final, respectively. Both recorded PSAC-qualifying marks in the process, posting times of 1:10.16 and 1:11.73.
The final event of the morning session, the 200-fly, also produced two qualifiers for the finals, as Kara Jones and Linnea Pierson advanced with PSAC-qualifying marks in this event.
