    Wrestling Falls to No. 6 Pitt-Johnstown in PSAC Opener

    JOHNSTOWN | The Kutztown University wrestling team was defeated in a dual meet, 24-10, against the sixth-ranked Mountain Cats of Pitt-Johnstown on Friday night in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener on the road.

    After a Mountain Cat victory at 125#, Lucas Miller put the Golden Bears on the board in the second match of the evening with a win by decision at 133#, 8-2, over Sam Holandez.

    Five straight victories for UPJ followed Miller’s win, distancing the team score to 21-3 after the 174# bout.

    Jeff Reimel controlled the action in his bout at 184#, scoring KU’s second team points of the night by

    dispatching Brodie Englert by major decision, 10-0.

    Despite the team defeat, Kutztown ended the match on a positive note, with a victory at heavyweight from Ryan Appleby, who won by a 5-3 final over UPJ’s Damon Sims Jr.

    KU returns to action in its last dual before the PSAC championships on Dec. 2, taking on the Seton Hill University Griffins at noon in Greensburg, Pa.
