In Friday night’s match against the Fighting Scots, Owen recorded a team-high ten kills and .297 attack percentage, posting double-digit kills for the second time in 2017. The Hatboro-native then followed that performance with a season-high 18 kills on Saturday afternoon, hitting at a blistering .472 clip in the Maroon and Gold’s 3-1 victory over Slippery Rock.
For the season, the Hatboro-Horsham-product currently leads the Golden Bears in attacking percentage, hitting .184 with 152 kills in her first season in Maroon and Gold. On the defensive side, Owen ranks third on KU with 40 total blocks, an average of .48 blocks per set. As a freshman, she has played in 24-of -27 matches and 84-of-96 total sets.
The selection for Owen is the first of her career and the first for Kutztown this season.
Owen will look to continue her stellar play of late in the Golden Bears’ next competition, a matchup with Southeastern Conference-foe East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
