Golden Bears Sit Three Strokes Off Lead Through First Round of PSAC Golf Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Kutztown University women’s golf team sits in second place, three strokes off the lead, following the first round of the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships Saturday, held at the Hershey Country Club.

The Golden Bears shot a 324 Saturday, three strokes behind West Chester’s 321. Mercyhurst is third at 329, Gannon is fourth at 333 and Millersville is fifth at 334.

KU is searching for its first title in program history.

Shannon Weber (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown Area (Millersville)) shot a 79 and is tied for third in the field. Freshman Jillian Jones(Framingham, Mass./Framingham) shot an 80 in her first career championship round and is tied for fifth.

Rachel Tarnopoll (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII) is tied for eighth with an 81, Caity Leppert (Layton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) is 18th with an 84 and Rebecca Graham (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) is 27th with an 87.

West Chester’s Meghan O’Maray leads the field with her 75 in the first round.

The final round will commence tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 22, beginning at 10 a.m.
