    Students named peer tutors at Alvernia University

    Alvernia’s Academic Success Center is located in Bernardine Hall:

    Top students have been named Peer Tutors at Alvernia University for 2017-18. Tutors are expected to have extensive knowledge of the subjects in which they specialize, and the ability to communicate that knowledge to peers. The following students were among those named:

    • Cami Beyer of Birdsboro, studying occupational therapy, was selected to tutor anatomy and physiology and occupational therapy
    • Jami Gresh of Shillington, studying for a master in education degree, was selected to tutor writing
    • Lucy Horn of Reading, studying occupational therapy, was selected to tutor writing
    • Brandon Orzech of Reading, studying biology and mathematics, was selected to tutor biology and math
    • Sarah Rothenberger of Fleetwood, studying occupational therapy, was selected to tutor writing
    • Sadie Shinn of Reading, studying healthcare science, was selected to tutor writing
    • Jennifer Toledo of Reading, studying for a master in education degree, was selected to tutor math, Spanish and education

    Peer tutors are members of the university’s Academic Success Center staff selected on the basis of academic skill, leadership, character and the ability to communicate well with others. They work on a one-on-one basis or in small group sessions to answer questions on course content and to aid in comprehension of course material.
