Kutztown Borough Police Department investigating homicide

At approximately 2:30 p.m. Nov. 19, 2017, Kutztown Police were called to the area of East Main Street and Kemp Street for a report of a domestic in progress and possible shots fired.

Upon arrival, police found Catherine Kriebel, 39, of Kutztown, deceased on the side porch of her residence. Across the street, police found Gerald Fusner, 50, of Kutztown, with a gunshot wound to the neck.

Fusner was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital via medivac. He is expected to survive his wounds.

An autopsy will be completed to determine the cause of death for Kriebel.

The investigation continues. Kutztown Borough Police Department was assisted at the scene by Kutztown University Department of Public Safety, Kutztown Fire Department, Berks County District Attorney’s Office Forensic Services Unit and Berks County Coroner’s Office.
