Alicia Simoneau named chief of veterinarian care at Humane Veterinary Hospitals

The Humane Pennsylvania is excited to announce Dr. Alicia Simoneau has been promoted to chief veterinary officer of the Humane Veterinary Hospitals in Berks and Lancaster counties.

The Humane Veterinary Hospitals of America believes that the best way to keep pets happy and healthy at home is to make sure they have access to high-quality and affordable veterinary care; access to veterinary care has been demonstrated to be one of the most important factors in keeping animals out of shelters, and HVH veterinarians help provide that care to animals throughout the community.

That’s why Humane Pennsylvania is proud to be one of the nation’s only networks of non-profit veterinary animal hospitals. Humane Veterinary Hospitals of America provides veterinary services directly to the public with state-of-the-art, nationally accredited animal hospitals. When you choose to bring your pet to one of the local Humane Veterinary Hospitals of America locations in Lancaster or Reading, you are choosing to obtain the highest possible level of care for your pet and help support the charitable work of HVH of America. The profits earned go directly to helping animals in need in your community.

In her new role – and in alignment with the organization’s mission to build the best community anywhere to be an animal – as well as to provide the highest level care, Simoneau will be the veterinary director and coordinate the veterinary initiatives undertaken by Humane Pennsylvania’s shelters, practice, The Giorgi Family Foundation grant initiatives and the consulting programs.

She will also have direct management authority over the medical programs of the Humane Society of Berks County shelter and the organization’s expanding low-cost and grant-driven services.

Simoneau is a graduate of Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. She attended Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, where she earned a bachelor’s of science in biology before veterinary school. Her special interests include holistic and integrative medicine, spay/neuter surgeries and nutrition. She practices classical homeopathy and is certified to perform acupuncture on dogs, cats and horses. She adores her three rescued Siamese/DSH cats and two adopted thoroughbred horses.
