Groth, Tama Earn KU Top-10 Records at Paul Kaiser Classic

SHIPPENSBURG – Sophomore Kelly Groth and freshman Ally Tama each entered the KU record books, highlighting the Kutztown University women’s track & field team at the Paul Kaiser Classic Saturday at Shippensburg University.

Groth ran a personal-best time of 12.30 in the 100m prelim, ranking third all-time at KU. Tama also broke a personal-record, clearing a mark of 3.60m (11-09.75) in the pole vault, which ranks fourth in the program history.

Overall, 13 Golden Bears posted Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks, including two that were new. Also, 12 Golden Bears earned new personal-best marks.

KU was well represented at the top of the javelin event Saturday. Megan Kirn finished second with an NCAA-Provisional mark of 41.88m (137-05), and Taylor Downey was fourth with a PSAC-existing mark of 40.32m (132-00).

McKenzie Fagan won the high jump at 1.66m (5-05.25), while Britney Hewitt was right behind in second

with a new PSAC mark of 1.61m (5-03.25). Hewitt also placed in the top-10 (ninth) in the triple jump at 11.07m (36-04.00). Macey Tanseco won the shot put with a PSAC mark of 13.23m (43-05.00)

Stephanie Bresadola placed second in the 1500m at 4:47.15. Abigail Zeger cleared a new PSAC mark of 3.30m (10-10.00), which is also a personal-best for the sophomore. Anecia Alexaki finished tied with Zeger in ninth.

Tishun Graham finished eighth in the 400m at a personal-best time of 1:00.21, and Julie Stratton placed ninth with a personal-best time of 2:26.18 in the 800m. Erin Callaghan was just behind at 2:26.48 in 10th.

Kutztown will next compete in the PSAC Championships beginning today at Slippery Rock University.
