Muhlenberg Community Library Set to Launch Explore Earth Exhibit

Muhlenberg Community Library is starting 2018 by digging into earth science. On Saturday January 13 th the library will launch the Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet exhibit with a kick-off event from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet is a national traveling exhibition exploring a global view of our changing environment. MCL is one of fourteen libraries in the country hosting the exhibit. At the launch in addition to delving into the exhibit, the public will be able to enjoy science-themed films, games, puzzle and trivia. At 2:00 PM the Da Vinci Science Center will present, “Shocking Discoveries!” its electrifying show about static electricity for all ages.

There will be exciting programming aimed at all ages about science. Children can enjoy the Kiddie Explorers story and craft time at noon and an H2O of Earth game at 1 p.m., also. Self-led children’s programs will include a science Launchpad “Petting Zoo,” recommended stories and the Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet exhibition’s interactive kiosk. Launchpads® are small pre-loaded tablets that fit in a child’s hand allowing children to engage with science in a fun, familiar way.

Teens and adults can try their hands at the Jeopardy-style trivia game scheduled for noon and a puzzle. They will be able to learn more about science by watching a movie, checking out books from the display and perusing the Explore Earth: Our Changing Planet exhibit.

All of the kick-off programs and activities are free to the public. Muhlenberg Community Library is located at 3612 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale.
