Kutztown Voted Fourth in D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll

KUTZTOWN | Sporting a six-game winning streak, the Kutztown University men’s basketball team saw another rise in the rankings this week as it climbs up one spot from last week and voted fourth in the latest Division Two Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Atlantic Regional Poll.

In a five-week period, the Golden Bears (8-1 overall, 4-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) have risen from 10th-to-fourth.

KU has not played since an 84-64 victory over Seton Hill University on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Keystone Arena.

Kutztown garnered 41 points, up from 26 points a week prior. The Maroon and Gold leapfrogged

Wheeling Jesuit, as the two teams swapped positions at fourth and fifth respectively.

West Liberty returns in the top spot of the poll, followed by KU’s next opponent West Chester University in second. Virginia State comes in just before KU in third.

The bottom-five of the top-10 features four teams from the PSAC. Shippensburg (No. 6), East Stroudsburg (7), IUP (8), Fairmont State (9) and Edinboro (10) round out the top-10.

Kutztown is off until Saturday, Dec. 30 when it travels to take on the Golden Rams (9-0, 5-0) at 3 p.m. at Hollinger Field House. Three of the next four games for the Golden Bears are against teams in the top-10 in the region, with matchups against the Fighting Scots (Jan. 6) and the Raiders (Jan. 9) following a game against Bloomsburg (Jan. 3).
