What: In the spring, Governor Mifflin’s FCA Club launched a fundraiser to help build athletic fields for the Maisha Project in Kenya, Africa. Through t-shirt sales and donations, the students raised more than $16,438 that funded the construction of athletic fields at the Maisha location in Kenya, which is a safe haven for orphans whose parents fell victim to the HIV/AIDS epidemic that plagues the region. The Maisha Project aims to break the cycle of poverty and enhance the quality of life for children and families living in Kenya.
On November 2, ambassadors from the Maisha Project in Kenya will visit Governor Mifflin High School to meet some of the students who helped improve their Kenyan facility. The members of the Light the Future Choir will represent the Maisha Project and their friends and families in Kenya while visiting with Governor Mifflin faculty, students, and members of the district’s local Ministerium.
