LANCASTER | Kutztown University sophomore Alexis Case(Ocean, N.J./Ocean Township)
and freshman Dana Henry(Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township)
had high performances in helping to lead the JV squad of the Kutztown University women’s bowling team to a first place finish at the Pennsylvania Classic in Lancaster on Sunday afternoon.
The JVs overcame a deficit Sunday after trailing the KU varsity after the six-game day one yesterday. The Golden Bears JV trailed the varsity 5,054 to 4,919 overall heading into the final day.
Case had a high series of a 597 and Henry tied for the event’s high game with a 213 in leading the JV team to an 8,710 overall total for the nine-game event.
The varsity ended with an 8,634 total to take second place, followed by Penn State Berks at 8,510 in third and the University of Delaware with 8,451 in fourth place.
KU’s JV team included Ella Luzzi (Spring Lake, N.J./Manasquan), Melanie Aptaker (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) and Megan Bauter (Spring Lake, N.J./Manasquan), along with Case and Henry.
Senior Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley), who had a team-high average of 189.3 on day one Saturday, raised her average to a 194.3, which was tops for the event.
Sophomore Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) tied Henry for a high game of 213.
Along with Fitts and Kozma, Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area), Laura Hartley (Mt Pleasant Mills, Pa./Midd-West) and Felicia Trievel (Reading, Pa./Wilson) made up the KU varsity team.
After Fitts’s 194.3 average, Kozma finished at 180.2 and Henry was not far behind at 179.7.
Kutztown will next hit the lanes on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Griffin Invitational in Limerick, Pa.
